On June 8, 1950, Engineer Go Ching Hai established Hayco Engineering on a 1,256 square meter lot at Tres Borces Padres Street in Mabolo, Cebu City. Being open to the possibilities of technological advancement, the company has constantly kept itself abreast with various industrial developments and market needs.   In 1991, motivated by the need to be of greater service to the food industry and backed by its 40-year experience coupled with diligent research and technical innovation, the business started to diversify.  Among its business ventures has been the food manufacturing company, Geltech Hayco Inc., now with two production plants separately located in Cebu, Philippines. 

Geltech Hayco, Inc.  embarked upon the manufacture of food grade carrageenan products tailored to meet the ever challenging demands of the international market. This was made possible through its competent management and staff who are committed to continuing research and upgrading of process and application technology, adherence to global quality and food safety standards, and consistent customer satisfaction. Our semi-refined carrageenan is now being exported to the different parts of Europe, Asia and America as Hygel®Carrageenan. 

In 1993, inspired by China’s use of soy to survive its most difficult period, and recognizing the value of soy as one of the most versatile food source of all time, Engr. Go Ching Hai finally realized a dream he had been working on for years - a nutritious and affordable high protein , soy-based meat alternative called Meat Magic®. As the first and only one person in the Philippines who has developed the manufacturing process and applications of Meat Magic®, Engr. Go Ching Hai garnered an “Outstanding Research” award from the Philippine’s Department of Science & Technology.  Meat Magic® is the only one of its kind in the market today.
